Friday Feelings
Nearly at the weekend with Mothers Day on Sunday.Reflecting on being a mother(having a tweenager & teenager)I think of my own mother who will soon celebrate 50 years of marriage & her mother who died many years ago but remains in my thoughts everyday-she was just so wonderful.
A mixed media piece I completed at college in 2009 was based on the Aberfan disaster of Friday,October 21st ,1966. The collapse of Colliery Waste Tip No.7 above the village resulted in tonnes of slurry engulfing Pantglas Junior School,a farm and 20 terraced houses.116 children and 28 adults died with the official enquiry blaming the National Coal Board.The piece is based on a plan view of the extent of the slip.
